Sculptra® Restylane® Juvéderm® Versa® Radiesse®

Sometimes, it’s not the wrinkle-smoothing power of Botox that we need, but a little something to fill in those laugh lines, “parentheses” around our noses, and our thinning lips. Enter dermal fillers. They do exactly what their name implies — they fill in places on the face that have lost volume.

Injector Nurse Beth Myrick at Bellora Medical Aesthetics has been helping Seattle age beautifully since 2015.

What to Expect

All faces lose volume as we age, and you may notice hollower cheeks, sunken eyes, and thin lips. All of these are natural occurrences — as we age, the collagen in our skin, which makes our faces appear youthful and full, deteriorates. Thankfully, fillers put up the fight we need to maintain this appearance as time battles against us.

At Bellora Medical Aesthetics we use Sculptra®, Restylane®, Juvéderm®, Versa®, and Radiesse®.

The duration of fillers depends on several factors, including:

  • Age
  • Site of injections
  • Baseline volume of collagen
  • Bone structure
  • Skin elasticity
  • Amount injected

What Fillers Do We Use?

Sculptra®

Although technically not a filler, Sculptra® is the only FDA-approved biodegradable injectable poly-L-lactic (PLLA) collagen biostimulator that works deep in the skin to improve its inner structure to smooth facial wrinkles, such as smile lines. It gradually stimulates your body’s collagen production to deliver natural-looking results. Derived from beet sugar, Sculptra® can also be used to target sagging skin in the neck, décolletage, elbows, abdomen, thighs, and legs. Learn more about Sculptra.

Restylane®

Want to fight signs of facial aging and reveal a younger-looking you? Restylane® can be used to add volume and fullness to the skin. It is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid (HA) that is specifically formulated to mimic your body’s naturally produced hyaluronic acid. This helps to visibly correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, including the lines that run from your nose toward the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds) and the lines that run from the corners of your mouth toward your chin (marionette lines).

In a clinical study of individuals treated with Restylane, blinded evaluators reported still seeing improvement in 95% of individuals 18 months after initial injection***.

Radiesse®

Radiesse® is a calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), FDA-approved filler/biostimulant. It boasts immediate results as well as long-term improvement by stimulating your body’s natural collagen and elastin production. Once injected, the caHA gel matrix provides immediate improvement for a variety of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, and as the gel carrier breaks down, a firm network of collagen fibers form and CaHA particles then integrate into your skin and create a “scaffold” that stimulates production of collagen and elastin.

Over time, dense and newly formed collagen and elastin replace the volume provided by the gel carrier, smoothing lines and promoting renewed skin structure. This unique product allows for long-lasting results.

Revanesse Versa®

Revanesse® Versa™ is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler that can be used to treat moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, including nasolabial folds and lips.

Voluma® for Cheeks

Voluma® by Juvéderm helps to provide volume and structure to the cheek area. The effects of Voluma have been clinically proven to last up to 2 years with optimal treatment.

Here’s a great example of what a little Voluma in the cheeks can do. These pictures show her right side treated and her left side untreated. Notice the lifted/contoured cheek, the tighter jawline, and the improvement in the undereye area — all from lifting/rejuvenating the cheek.

Vollure® for Fine Lines

Vollure® by Juvéderm helps to fill in those laugh lines and “parentheses” around the nose. With optimal treatment, Vollure has been clinically proven to last about 18 months.

Volbella® for Lips

Volbella® by Juvéderm is used to plump the lips and smooth fine lines around them. It creates a smooth, natural look, and feels natural too. The results from Volbella can last up to a year.

Before Your Filler Appointment

For 7-10 days before your filler appointment, discontinue the use of Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, Fish oil, Garlic, Ginkgo Biloba, Niacin, Flax seed oil, and Omega 3. These products can cause bruising.

Starting 3 days before injections, taking oral, over-the-counter Arnica pills and applying Arnica gel or cream to the treatment area can decrease bruising and swelling. We recommend taking Tylenol before (and after) your procedure for discomfort.

After Your Appointment

  • For the first day after your appointment, apply an ice pack for 5–10 minutes every 2 hours to the treatment area. For the following 2 days apply the ice 1–2 times daily. Do not apply pressure unless instructed by your clinician.
  • For 24-48 hours after treatment avoid hot tubs, saunas, hot yoga, or heavy exercising.
  • We recommend taking Tylenol for discomfort after the procedure (and before).
  • Applying over-the-counter Arnica gel or cream to the treatment area and taking oral Arnica and Bromelain helps to reduce the length of bruising, swelling, and discomfort.
  • Bruising in the injection area is normal and may take 7–14 days to fade.
  • Redness and swelling in the injection area are normal for the first 3–7 days after treatment.
  • It is normal for one side to be slightly fuller than the other. Asymmetry is part of the human anatomy, but we are happy to see you in 2–4 weeks for a touch-up if asymmetry is bothersome after injections.
  • For the first 3 nights after treatment, we recommend sleeping on your back and using 2 pillows or a wraparound neck pillow to elevate and stabilize your head. This helps ensure that the newly injected filler stays in place.
  • Contact Bellora Medical Aesthetics if you experience numbness, tingling, discomfort, or discoloration of the skin on or around the injection site. Call 911 immediately if you are unable to reach us or if you experience vision or neurological changes.
