Boost Skin Clarity & Tone in One Treatment

Also known as a photofacial, intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy can boost skin clarity and tone after just one treatment — and without surgery. Many patients appear years younger as IPL improves complexion, reduces skin irregularities, and treats pigmentation and vascular lesions.

IPL Therapy, known as a photofacial, rejuvenates skin. This treatment is offered at Bellora Medical Aesthetics

What to Expect

Through photothermolysis, a photofacial delivers a non-painful light treatment. You can expect to see a bright flash of light and feel a slight snapping sensation (like a rubber band). Minor irritation and/or redness are expected following treatment and typically lasts for about an hour.

At Bellora Medical Aesthetics, our Lumecca® IPL is widely recognized as the strongest and best commercial device available. Lumecca is safe on all areas of the body. Your Bellora esthetician will assess your treatment areas and create a plan for your best results. Common treatment areas include:

  • Face
  • Neck
  • Hands
  • Arms
  • Legs
  • Decolletage

IPL Results

Treatment results for complexion and sun damage are noticeable within a few days of the first session. Results will improve over time, reaching their peak 1–2 weeks after treatment, leaving you with more youthful and glowing skin! In just 1–3 IPL sessions, you can improve the appearance of:

  • Sun damage
  • Age spots (red/brown pigmentations)
  • Rosacea (redness)
  • Freckles
  • Vascular lesions, such as facial telangiectasias (spider veins) and poikiloderma

Although results can be seen after just one session, multiple sessions may be needed for maximized results, depending on:

  • Skin type
  • Type of treatment (vascular or sun damage)
  • Energy settings
  • Severity of skin damage

Before & After Treatment

Prior to treatment, avoid tanning or direct, long periods of time in the sun. For at least 24 hours after treatment, avoid wearing makeup and contact with direct sunlight.

For the first 24–48 hours after treatment, darkening of pigmented spots may occur. Your skin tone will even out as the pigmented lesions flake off.

For vascular lesions, you might see the vessel change color or the vein blanch. These symptoms typically subside after a few days.

Treatment reactions typically subside within a few hours.
